FOOD FOR THOUGHT

2 Corinthians 5:14-15

14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died;

15 and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

Romans 6:11-13

11 Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts,

13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Romans 12:1-2

1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Galatians 4:30

30 It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

John 8:36

36 "So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

MISSION SUPPORT

OPPORTUNITIES"

The Rafiki Foundation, Inc. – God's Word at Work

History of Rafiki

Rafiki began in 1985 when Rosemary Jensen and others with the help of several churches sent two doctors and their wives to Tanzania, Africa to work in the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center and to teach the Bible. Rafiki was incorporated and registered as a nonprofit organization in 1987 and its work has continued to expand in numbers and scope ever since. Mission of Rafiki

Rafiki's mission is to glorify God by turning helpless children in Africa into godly contributors in the world.

Rafiki Exchange

The education provided at the Rafiki Girls' Centers includes training in an artistic skill. This training results in beautiful handcrafted items. The Rafiki Exchange is the retail outlet for these items. The displays showcase the natural beauty of these products and give opportunity to view the variety of skills being developed around the world. The top quality workmanship is evidence of the standard of training in the centers. The Exchange is a wonderful source for gifts. The recipient becomes aware of a ‘double gift’ as they enjoy the beauty of the item and the understanding that the cost of the item is used to meet the need of the girls' centers. One hundred percent of the income is used to meet the budgetary needs of the girls' centers. Their web site is intended to give everyone the opportunity to 'visit' the Rafiki Exchange. You will enjoy viewing the products and making your choices for purchase. They are not able to display every color and every pattern, so please call for added descriptions and inquiries. They are not licensed for e-commerce as yet, so you will need to phone and make your purchases. They are ready to help you and will ship your order within 2 - 3 days as stock allows. Phone orders may be placed Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Rafiki Exchange

Travel to faraway places can be costly. Serving overseas may not be possible. Here is an opportunity for you to have a vital part in the ministry of Rafiki to these young girls who are struggling to survive in a world so different from your own. Huge smiles brighten their faces when they are told of your interest in the work of their hands.

DOXOLOGY

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heav’nly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. AMEN.

Excerpt from “On Communion With God” by John Owen

The difference between the liberty of slaves and that of children

Slaves find freedom when released from their duties. Children find their freedom in doing their duty. There is no greater mistake in the world than the idea that the freedom of sons in God’s house lies in choosing whether they will obey or not, whether they will serve or not, whether they will do their duty or not. This is a freedom stolen by slaves, not a liberty given by the Spirit to sons. The liberty of sons is in the inward spiritual freedom of their hearts gladly and willingly obeying God in everything. Love gives joy and delight in obedience. ‘If you love me,’ says Christ, ‘Keep my commandments’ (John 14:15). ‘Love,’ says Paul, “is the fulfilling of the law’ (Romans 13:10). Jacobs’s hard service was not burdensome to him, because of his love for Rachel. In the same way, no duty is burdensome or grievous to a saint, because of his love for Christ. ‘There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear’ (I John 4:18). When a person obeys out of love, then fear is cast out. Fears arise when our obedience is to be judged and may be condemned. So where there is life and love, there is freedom and a willing obedience. The one whom they obey is the one whom they love and desire above all things. To unrepentant sinners, God is terrible. But to his adopted ones, He is altogether lovely. To believers, God is seen as a Father. They call Him Father, not merely in word, but in the spirit of sons (Galatians 4:6). They do not, like others, see God as a hard taskmaster, but they go to Him as One who lives and loves them. Receiving love from the Father, they pour out their love on Him.

  • Their obedience is motivated by love (II Corinthians 5:14).

  • Their obedience is from a willing heart (Romans 6:13; 12:1)

  • Their obedience is ruled by the law of liberty. The law of liberty is the law stripped of its terrifying, killing, condemning, cursing power, and made by the blood of Jesus, pleasant, lovely, and helpful.
